Traveling to India is a dream for many. But it is a dream that can be quite scary, and with good reason: when planning a trip to India, a thousand and one doubts arise. Known from experience. In this article here are some tips to travel to India (and not screw it up), a few tips that you would love to know before starting your great trip in the Asian country. It includes Canada to India flights, accommodation, cuisines & transportation.

Organized trip

if you prefer to play it safe and in the hands of professionals, cool just the same! There are local companies that do an excellent job. And, recently a very professional place with packages is in recommendation at very good prices.

North or South?

If you only have two or three weeks to travel and it is your first visit, experts usually recommend focusing on the north: Delhi, Rajasthan (Jaipur, Jodhpur, Pushkar, Udaipur, Jaisalmer…), Agra, and Varanasi. Although the south also has a lot of charm, so come back!

Keep an eye on the weather

India is not only just a huge country, but it also has quite different climates depending on the area and the season. Generally speaking, the monsoon season runs from July to September (in the south it lasts until November), the best time to visit India is between December and March. To travel through the mountains of the far north, the best months are the summer.

The Indian cuisine

Indian cuisine is one of your favorites, but be prepared psychologically if you do not like spicy ... because most things sting a lot! Of course, in the most touristy restaurants, they usually prepare dishes that are proof of the western palate. The dishes that do not fail are the butter chicken and the malai kofta.

Visa

Completing it is the first contact with the reality of the country, so take your time and be patient. The form is very extensive - it occupies several pages - and contains questions of all kinds: from your religion to the countries you have visited, through information about your parents, profession, or if you have visible identifying marks on your body such as moles or tattoos. A reference person in Spain and India will also be requested, in which case, you can indicate the details of one of the planned accommodations.

Flights to India

If you want your trip to India not to go out of budget, and you are the ones who are going to buy the tickets, it makes up for us to go looking almost daily at their reservation websites, since companies tend to change rates frequently. At the time of writing this guide, if you entered “cheap flights to India” in the famous search engine, the cheapest prices were around 400 euros. But if you depend on specific round-trip dates or stopovers, things change. Therefore, anticipation in the search for your India flights is essential if you want to look into your pocket.

Currency and payments when traveling to India

If you carry cash and the amount is greater than 10,000 euros in cash, you will have to declare it when leaving Spain at the airport. Once in India, we can change the money in cash at the same airport, at an exchange house (they charge small commissions), or in some hotels. There also is the option of withdrawing money at ATMs. Of course, the commissions amount to an average of 7-8 euros, so we must take out relatively large amounts. It is not allowed to take Indian currency out of the country (some currency or note of little value is allowed as a souvenir), so you must keep the proof of the changes to rupees in the case before returning to Spain you want to convert them to Euros and why the change in the black market is punishable by law.
